Usually, we are busy decorating our walls and floors. However, what is about our ceilings? Besides beautiful ceiling lights, fancy ceiling fans are also a great choice as well.

Ceiling fans are generally avoided by people when they design the interior space. The reason is because they thought all the fans are wobbly and dusty. The designs are also outdated. In some cases, these fans will remind of you of abandoned, old time diners.

This is not entirely true, as there are a lot of breakthroughs in ceiling fans designs today. The fancy ceiling fans you find in stores would be in the following variants. They are the ordinary typical ceiling fans with blades and light fixture, the low profile or hugger fans, and dual motor ceiling fans.

Steps to Decide the Right Fancy Ceiling Fans for Your Rooms

In deciding which ceiling fan is the right one, you have to consider the total area of the room first as this will affect the span of the blades. The blade spans suitable for an under 75 sq. ft. room is 29-36”, for 76-144 sq. ft. room is 36-44”, for 144-225 sq. ft. room is 44-54”, and for a 225-400 sq. ft. room is 50-72”. If you room is bigger than 400 sq. ft., you might have to install more than single fan for optimum air circulation.

The next thing you have to consider before buying fancy ceiling fans is the ceiling height of the room. This will affect the need of a downrod and the length of it. Generally, the minimum distance between the blades and the floor should be 7 ft. to avoid the blades hitting our heads. If your room is 8 ft or lower, you might want to use a low profile fan. It doesn’t have a downrod and directly installed to the mounting bracket on the ceiling.

The final step would be choosing the right finish for either outdoor or indoor use. If you are buying a fan for outdoor use, you should buy a dam and wet ceiling fan.
